The conference aims to enlighten problems our society and the planet are facing from different perspectives. It engages to bring scholars, researchers, artists, and professionals of global range, various interests, and of all generations, into dialogue to define these problems and make them become conference topics. Everyone is invited to submit his/her proposals for conference topics in our Discuss Topics Forums where all contributions and comments can be seen.
The conference programme will consist mainly of a series of keynote invited lectures (45 minutes each), invited lectures (30 minutes each) and a special session. The latter one will take place on Wednesday 16 May 2012, where we shall begin with the lecture by H.H. Dalai Lama, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, followed by three short talks, and then followed by an one hour panel discussion. Apart from the invited talks, there will be also a few contributed short reports and posters.
Conference topics will address "key problems and obstacles that hinder our society and the planet on a way to better existence". They are published on the Discuss Topics Site where we will be looking for new topics suggestions. So please visit the Discuss Topics Site to see the topics and also to discuss and to influence their definition, propose new topics and/or perspectives that the topic should focus on.
Abstracts are ideas on solutions you have on conference topics respectively "key problems and obstacles that hinder our society and the planet on a way to better existence".
In abstracts we expect authors to show understanding of the problem/topic addressed and provide ideas for its solution. Ready made solutions are of course acceptable and welcome, however we would like to use the conference for new (out of the box) ideas. Therefore holistic/interdisciplinary view and originality will be the most important criteria for abstract evaluation followed by in depth (scientific/professional/artistic) insight into the problem/topic.
Abstracts of approximately 1000 words (2 pages) have to be submitted by 31 January. They are suggested to follow our Abstract Template and have to be submitted through our Submission Site which are at the top of this page.
Acceptance notification will be due on 15 Febraury. Authors will be notified whether they will present their contribution as oral presentation (short report of 15 minutes) or in the poster session. The book of abstracts of all invited lectures and contributions will be printed and will be ready at the conference.
Authors whose contribution will be selected for oral presentation will have to submit a full paper of 3000 - 5000 words (6-10 pages) by 31 March. A template will be added here. At the conference full papers will be given 10 minutes for presentation followed by 5 minutes discussion.
The full papers will be published in conference proceedings. Conference proceedings will be produced also in digital version and will be ready and available at the conference.
Presentation materials (presentations) will have to be submitted to the conference organizers at least one hour before the session starts.
Authors who will present a poster will have to submit a poster by 31 March. Additionally (upon their wish) they can submit a full paper (see above) that will be included in conference proceedings.
Templates for papers, posters and presentations will be added on this page.
Having presented ideas and solutions at the conference we will take effort to publish these in a broader context. We will try to inspire conference authors (of most valuable full papers and posters) to cooperate in putting together chapters for the (first) Out of the Box Book with the proposed title »Out of the Box Views on World’s Problems and Solutions«. Chapters will be listed due to conference topics and they will contain ideas prepared for the book by the conference authors' teams. We see this book in quantity as a sort of an almanac but in quality reaching far beyond it. Chapter lenghts, however, will depend on authors' engagement and cooperation success. We plan to publish the book in the beginning of 2013 by renowned international publisher in Out of the Box publishing series.
Conference authors will be invited to submit book chapters by 31 August 2012. Chapters will be peer-reviewed by 31 October 2012. Revised chapters ready for publishing will have to be submitted by 15 December 2012.
