Both venue buildings aree set next to each other in the very heart of Maribor on one of its most popular and
charming squares - The Slomšek Square.

Maribor lies at the NE part of Slovenia in the middle of a wine-growing region. The town is surrounded by vineyards on the North and East and by mountains (with ski slopes) on the South and West. One of its prides is to be the city of the world’s oldest vine, a plant which is over 400 years old and inscribed in the Guinness book of records. The river Drava flows through the town. On its banks, called Lent, the youth (in age and in heart) of Maribor and vicinity socialize in many pubs and restaurants. The history of Maribor is rich and is reflected in many buildings dating back to the 13th century. The more recent past is reflected in the university, the theatre, shopping and recreation centres - all within walking distance. Many cultural, sporting and social events take place in the city throughout the year.
One of the most charming squares in the city can be found in the western part of the old town core. In the Anton Martin Slomšek square stands the Cathedral and closely a statue of Bishop Anton Martin Slomšek, by these two monuments is a park with a pool and a small statue of Korlek. The square is made even more attractive by the mighty buildings that surrounding it including: the Rectorate of the University of Maribor, the Slovene National Theatre and the building of the main Maribor Post office.

The Slovene National Theatre Maribor is the largest cultural and artistic institute in Slovenia, which is organised into five units: Drama, Opera, Ballet, Symphonic Orchestra and the Borštnik Festival. On five different stages and halls there are 13 premieres held each season (7 dramas, 4 operas, 2 ballets) and 14 concerts, which altogether makes 500 performances seen by approximately 200 000 visitors.
The Big Hall which will host the conference on Wednesday, May 16th morning for the panel with Nobel Laureats accepts 1500 spectators. It is known for its great acustics and good stage sight.

The University of Maribor was founded in 1975. It consists of 16 faculties, 1 administrative unit-Rectorat, Student dormitories (13 units), Sport centre Leon Štukelj, University library, The Residence Hall for Graduate Students and Visiting Professors.

Maribor, Univerza v Mariboru in Slovensko narodno gledališče
Obe prizorišči dogajanja se nahajata v samem središču Maribora na enem najbolj priljubljenih in očarljivih trgov - na Slomškovem trgu.
Lokacija: Maribor
Maribor leži v severovzhodnem delu Slovenije, v središču vinorodne regije. Mesto je obdano z vinogradi na severu in vzhodu ter z gorovjem (s smučišči) na jugu in zahodu. Med drugim se ponaša z najstarejšo vinsko trto na svetu - rastlino, ki je stara več kot 400 let in je vpisana v Guinnessovo knjigo rekordov. Skozi mesto teče reka Drava. Na obrežju, ki se imenuje Lent, se mladi in mladi po srcu iz Maribora in okolice družijo v številnih lokalih in restavracijah. Zgodovina Maribora je bogata in se odraža v številnih zgradbah iz 13. stoletja. Med novejše stavbe spadajo univerza, gledališče ter nakupovalni in rekreacijski centri, kamor se lahko pride peš. V mestu skozi vse leto potekajo številni kulturni, športni in družabni dogodki.
Enega najbolj očarljivih trgov v mestu je mogoče najti v zahodnem delu starega mestnega jedra. Na trgu Antona Martina Slomška stoji katedrala in kip škofa Antona Martina Slomška - v neposredni bližini teh zgodovinskih monumentov je park s fontano in majhen kip Korleka. Trg pa je še bolj privlačen zaradi mogočnih stavb, ki ga obkrožajo: Rektorat Univerze v Mariboru, Slovensko narodno gledališče in sedež Pošte Slovenije.

Slovensko narodno gledališče Maribor je največji kulturno-umetniški zavod v Sloveniji, ki ga sestavljajo Drama, Opera, Balet, Simfonični orkester in Festival Borštnikovo srečanje. Na petih različnih odrih in dvoranah se vsako sezono zvrsti 13 premier (7 dram, 4 opere, 2 baleta) in 14 koncertov - skupno okrog 500 nastopov si ogleda približno 200.000 obiskovalcev.Velika dvorana, kjer bo v sredo, 16. maja potekalo srečanje Nobelovih nagrajencev, sprejme 1500 gledalcev. Znana je po izvrstni akustiki in dobrim pogledom na oder.
